Assonance is a writing device in which a group of words contain similar sounds. Unlike alliteration, assonant sounds don't need to be in the beginning of the word. They can come in the beginning, middle, or end. An Assonant poem must have at least 8 assonant words, but may contain other words that help the poem flow. Here is an example:
Dee, Jody, Billy, and me see the tree and believe the leaves are evergreen.
